Erika's Lighthouse Fourth Annual Walkathon
On May 6, 2007 over 400 people of all ages turned out to help us "get depression out of the dark." It was a remarkable thing to see so many people there in support of our mission to raise awareness on adolescent depression. This community event was made possible by the many volunteers who gave of their time and energy to make this event a success. Take a moment and read one of the emails we received from a participant who illustrates what this Walkathon is all about and see you at next year's Walkathon!
"I just wanted to thank you and all of the people who helped to put the walkathon together. What an incredible event! I was amazed and impressed by the number of teens that were there! Another of my four sons was diagnosed with depression recently & is just beginning to understand what that really means. (He is only 8.) I asked him if he knew why everyone was walking and he said "to help me with depression." I could tell that seeing so many people doing something fun to fight this disease had a big impact on him. Thanks for renewing our hope and for educating others about depression!"
