SUPPORT FOR SCHOOLS

Schools play a key role in the early identification and intervention of students showing signs of depression. Our comprehensive approach has three parts: 1. training faculty to recognize the important role they play in identifying students who might need emotional support, 2. a curriculum for students about mental illness and social well being, 3. education for parents.

Mental Health America of Illinois (formerly Mental Health Association of Illinois) Supports Red Flags Awareness & Training

Thanks to a generous grant, ELH launched two new initiatives to bring Red Flags to interested schools - Lunch 'n' Learns and Spring Training Sessions. What's in it for your school? How to schedule an event?

Lunch & Learns
A popular way to learn about our Red Flags Program. We bring lunch to your school and talk to your staff about how to recognize some of the red flags of depression in students. The program includes our Red Flags in Children's Behavior booklet, our new Parent Handbook on Childhood and Adolescent Depression, and if there's still time, our 8-minute video Real Teenagers Talking about Depression.

Spring Training Sessions
Once your school is committed to Red Flags, we work with you to implement it. Full - and half-day programs are available. To schedule one for your school, contact Peggy Kubert, Executive Director of Erika's Lighthouse, at info@ErikasLighthouse.org. See below for more in-depth information on Red Flags Training.
