Giving Tuesday is quickly approaching. Did you know that Giving Tuesday was started in 2012 by the 92nd Street Y and the United Nations Foundation as a response to commercialization and consumerism in the post-Thanksgiving season (Black Friday and Cyber Monday)? It is always five days after the US holiday. Giving Tuesday has been praised as an antithesis of consumer culture and because it encourages people to use their hard-earned dollars to make a meaningful difference.

Giving Tuesday is your chance to help Erika’s Lighthouse Get Depression Out of the Dark. Whether you join Team Resilience, create a Shine A Light Campaign or simply make a donation, you are helping educate communities about adolescent depression.

Join Erika’s Lighthouse in bringing important free classroom programming to teens. These student quotes reveal the impact of empowering educators to lead depression awareness initiatives in their schools:

“I greatly appreciated the highly insightful advice. This has opened my eyes to depression in ways I never saw before.”

“I learned to spot signs in someone and ways to possibly help.”

“I like this and feel we should have more.”

“This is going to encourage me to try and get professional help.”

“I love what this program is doing because I learned a lot about prevention.”

“I feel like the handouts, group work and discussions helped the students to get more involved.”

Thank you for joining this community of compassionate educators, advocates, students, and partners working together to make sure no young person feels alone in their depression.
