Erika’s Lighthouse is a nonprofit organization that helps schools provide their students with the skills needed to talk to each other, to their parents, teachers and counselors. Our resources raise awareness, reduce stigma, educate students, promote good mental health and encourage help-seeking.

Fundraising is made easy with the use of Facebook. Your network is your biggest asset when it comes to raising money. If you have a birthday or are planning a party for a holiday weekend, you can easily turn this momentous event into something positive by simply just using a platform you already use regularly!

At Erika’s Lighthouse, if you have a fundraising event in mind or are raising funds for us through our endurance program, Team Resilience, you can gather donations through Facebook and here’s how:

  • Go to your Facebook profile or Page.
  • Click on the “Fundraisers” tab.
  • Click on “Create a fundraiser.”
  • Select “Nonprofit” as the fundraiser type.
  • Search for Erika’s Lighthouse in the list of nonprofits.
  • Enter your fundraiser goal.
  • Write a description of your fundraiser.
  • Share your fundraiser with your friends and family.
  • Once you’ve created your fundraiser, you can promote it on your Facebook profile, Page, and in your social media circles. You can also ask your friends and family to donate to your fundraiser.

Here are some tips for making a strong Facebook fundraiser:

  • Use a strong and attention-grabbing title.
  • Write a compelling description of your fundraiser.
  • Use high-quality photos or videos.
  • Share your fundraiser on social media.
  • Ask your friends and family to donate.
  • If you’re able to raise enough money, you’ll be able to keep our mental health and education programs FREE so that no child is alone in their depression!

If you already have a fundraising page set up through Erika’s Lighthouse, either through Shine A Light, Team Resilience, or Student Fundraising Center, by logging into your dashboard on our website, we have other great fundraising tips, tools, and social media template guides. We also have the ability to link your Erika’s Lighthouse fundraising page directly to your Facebook and Twitter in the dashboard. Our fundraising dashboard is a one-stop-shop to all the tools you need to succeed in your fundraising goal! If you still want more one-on-one help, our Fundraising Manager, Nick, is always available to set up a time with you to help! You can reach him at Nick@erikaslighthouse.org
