Erika’s Lighthouse: A Beacon of Hope for Adolescent Depression is a non-profit organization committed to raising awareness about youth mental health in elementary school, middle school, and high school communities at no cost to schools. Erika’s Lighthouse works to eliminate the stigma surrounding depression and empower young people to take ownership of their mental health. With help from our Professional Community Ambassadors, we expand our reach each year.

Here at Erika’s Lighthouse, we believe authentic voices play a pivotal role in fostering meaningful conversations about mental health. Sharing personal stories, experiences, successes, or failures, especially from individuals one knows, trusts, respects, or relates to, holds immense power. Who better to cultivate those relationships than professionals from your community? 

Erika’s Lighthouse is thrilled to broaden our Professional Community Ambassador initiative in collaboration with Shine Light on Depression (shinelightondepression.org) in four states: California, Iowa, Missouri, and Texas. State-based ambassadors will serve as peer champions, acting as one-on-one peer leaders, and facilitating connections between schools, community-based organizations, and our initiatives.

The Professional Community Ambassador (PCA) is a paid contractual employee for Erika’s Lighthouse working to promote awareness of Erika’s Lighthouse and Shine Light On Depression resources and programs to schools and community-based organizations (CBOs) in their state. Ambassadors have a background in education, school counseling, school social work, or public health. 

Our Professional Community Ambassadors have a passion for Erika’s Lighthouse mission and a commitment to educating and raising awareness about adolescent depression. Communities nationwide will receive in-state motivational support, empowerment, collaborative relationship building, and connection to Erika’s Lighthouse resources. 

As a continued effort to expand our Professional Community Ambassadors, Ambassadors will create connections, attend a state-level conference to present and exhibit and collaborate with Erika’s Lighthouse team on ways to connect their communities to the resources at Erika’s Lighthouse.
